Civil engineering
Civil engineering involves the design and construction of structures on or below the earth’s surface, including roads, tunnels, bridges, railways, and foundations. It also covers utilities like water supply networks, sewers, and power lines. In this field, geosynthetics play a crucial role, including non-woven filtration fabrics, geogrids, drainage mats, and geomembranes. These materials separate soil layers, filter water, reinforce slopes, create seals, and ensure proper drainage.
Geosynthetics offer both economic and ecological advantages over conventional methods like concrete or gravel. They are cheaper to install and maintain, and they improve sustainability, particularly in road construction, landfill sealing, and slope stabilization.
